GCC Trademark Registration from the UAE: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman

GCC Trademark Registration from the UAE

There is no single GCC trademark registration. The GCC Trademark Law harmonises the rules, but each country keeps its own register, so a UAE registration gives no rights in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain or Oman. Brands trading across the Gulf file in each country.

Two routes

Route Countries Notes
Madrid Protocol (via MoET/WIPO) Bahrain, Oman, and any other GCC member of Madrid at the time of filing One application from the UAE base mark; lower cost per country
Direct national filing Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait (and any non-member) Local agent, legalised POA, national fees

Madrid membership changes; we confirm the current list before advising a route.

Country notes

Fees and timelines vary and change; ask us for a current country-by-country estimate.

  1. Register in the UAE (base mark).
  2. Within six months, extend to the GCC countries where you sell or plan to, claiming UAE priority.
  3. Record each registration with that country's customs if you export.
