IPBases: Trademark Management Software for IP Firms in the UAE and MENA
IPBases: self-hosted trademark management software for IP firms – portfolio docketing, 30-second filing wizard, documents, invoicing, mail, renewals, audit trail.

A UAE trademark is protected for 10 years from its filing date. It does not renew itself: the owner must file a renewal application with the Ministry of Economy & Tourism (MoET) during the final year, or at the latest within the 6-month grace period after expiry. Miss both windows and the registration is cancelled.
| When you file | Publication fee | Renewal fee | Total per class |
|---|---|---|---|
| During the 10th (final) year of protection | AED 750 | AED 5,750 | AED 6,500 |
| Within 6 months after the expiry date | AED 750 | AED 6,500 | AED 7,250 |
Renewals are published in the Trademark Bulletin but, unlike a new application, there is no re-examination and no opposition period. The renewed mark is valid for a further 10 years and can be renewed indefinitely.
Companies registered under the National Programme for SMEs pay 50% of these fees.
Count 10 years from the filing date on your certificate (not the registration date). The renewal window opens on the first day of year 10 and closes 6 months after the 10-year anniversary. Example: a mark filed on 3 March 2016 can be renewed from 3 March 2025 to 3 September 2026.
MoET does not send reminders. Put the date in your calendar or ask your agent to monitor it – we track renewal deadlines for every mark we file at no charge.
The whole process typically completes within a few weeks.
No. Renewal covers the mark exactly as registered, in the same class. Adding classes or changing the logo requires a new application. Removing goods from the specification is possible via a separate limitation request.
