Quick answer: registering a trademark in the UAE costs AED 6,500 per class in official government fees, paid in three stages to the Ministry of Economy & Tourism (MoET). Add a professional agent fee if you use one, and AED 2,250 if you want one-day examination. Renewal after 10 years costs AED 6,500 if done on time.
| Stage | Fee | Deadline |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Application & examination | AED 750 | Paid when you file |
| 2. Publication in the Trademark Bulletin | AED 750 | Within 30 days of the acceptance decision |
| 3. Final registration & certificate | AED 5,000 | Within 30 days after the 30-day opposition period |
| Total | AED 6,500 |
All fees are per class. The UAE uses the Nice Classification (13th edition from 27 January 2026) and requires a separate application for each class, so a brand that sells clothing (Class 25) and runs an online shop (Class 35) pays AED 13,000 in official fees. See our trademark classes list and multi-class guide to choose the right classes.
The fee schedule above has been in force since 14 November 2025 under Cabinet Resolution No. (102) of 2025 – read what changed.
Missing a payment deadline does not cancel the application, but it costs money:
If the fees remain unpaid the application is treated as abandoned.
Government fees cover MoET only. Most applicants also pay a trademark agent to run a clearance search, prepare the goods-and-services specification in Arabic and English, file, respond to office actions and collect the certificate. In the UAE market this typically ranges from around AED 1,500 to AED 5,000 per class depending on the firm and the complexity of the mark.
At UAE Trademarks we quote a fixed professional fee upfront that includes the search, the filing and all follow-up until the certificate is issued. Request a quote.
Foreign applicants – anyone without a UAE address – must file through a UAE-registered agent and provide a notarised and legalised power of attorney, so the agent fee is not optional for them.
A UAE trademark lasts 10 years from the filing date and can be renewed indefinitely for 10-year periods.
| When you renew | Publication | Renewal fee | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| During the 10th (final) year | AED 750 | AED 5,750 | AED 6,500 |
| Within 6 months after expiry (grace period) | AED 750 | AED 6,500 | AED 7,250 |
After the 6-month grace period the mark is cancelled and you must file a brand-new application at AED 6,500 – and risk someone else registering it first. Full details in our trademark renewal guide.
Single class, on time, no agent: 750 + 750 + 5,000 = AED 6,500.
Single class with one-day examination: 6,500 + 2,250 = AED 8,750.
Two classes filed by a foreign company through an agent: (6,500 × 2) + agent fee (2 classes) + POA notarisation/legalisation in the home country (varies by country, typically USD 100–400).
SME-programme company, single class: 50% of 6,500 = AED 3,250.
| Month | What happens | You pay |

Every other MoET service fee (assignments, copies, agent registration) is in the complete official fee schedule.
Is AED 6,500 the total cost? It is the total government cost for one class filed on time. Agent fees, one-day examination and any oppositions are extra.
Do I pay everything at once? No – AED 750 at filing, AED 750 after acceptance, AED 5,000 after the opposition period.
Is the fee refundable if my trademark is refused? No. The AED 750 application fee is non-refundable. That is why a clearance search before filing is worth it – see how to search the MoET trademark database.
Can I pay in instalments? Government fees are paid per stage on the MoET portal; there is no instalment option within a stage.
Does a trade licence count as a trademark? No. A trade name on your licence does not stop others registering the same brand as a trademark. See UAE trademark law.
