Trademark Registration for E-commerce and Amazon/noon Sellers in the UAE

Online sellers are the most exposed to first-to-file problems in the UAE: brands grow on Instagram, TikTok, Amazon.ae and noon before anyone registers them, and a reseller or competitor files first. This guide covers what to register, in which classes, and how a registration works with the marketplaces.

Classes for an online seller

Business Classes
Own-brand products sold on your site or marketplaces Product class (e.g. 3 cosmetics, 25 clothing, 9 electronics, 30 food) + 35 (online retail)
Reseller / multi-brand store 35
Marketplace or app 35 + 42 (+ 9 for the app)
Dropshipping brand Product class + 35

Amazon Brand Registry (Amazon.ae)

Amazon Brand Registry requires an active registered trademark, or a pending application in some programmes, in the marketplace country. A UAE registration from MoET qualifies for Amazon.ae; the mark must be a word mark or a logo containing the words, in the applicant's name, and the brand name on listings must match. Once enrolled you get A+ content, sponsored-brand ads, and a takedown process against counterfeit and hijacked listings.

noon and other marketplaces

noon's brand-protection and seller-onboarding processes accept the MoET certificate as proof of brand ownership; counterfeit reports are handled through their IP complaint channels. Talabat, Careem and Deliveroo enforce restaurant and product brands through takedown requests backed by a registration.

Social-media brands

Register the handle name as a word mark in the product class and Class 35 before the launch campaign. Instagram and TikTok trademark-based reporting requires proof of registration.

Domain names

A UAE trademark supports complaints over .ae domain names through the .ae Domain Administration dispute policy and over generic domains through WIPO's UDRP.

Cross-border sellers

If you sell to Saudi Arabia or the wider GCC, file there too – a UAE mark gives no rights in other countries. International registration →

Enforcement checklist for online sellers

  1. Register the word mark in your product class and Class 35.
  2. Enrol in Amazon Brand Registry and noon brand protection.
  3. Record the mark with Dubai Customs to stop counterfeit imports.
  4. Set up a bulletin watch to oppose copycat filings within 30 days. Monitoring →
  5. Use marketplace takedowns first, DED complaints second. Enforcement →
